Arodene German shepherd dogs are a relatively new kennel, having started breeding in 1998. Though we had been involved with shepherds and other breeds since the late 1970s it is only since the Arodene affix was granted that we have been able to breed and exhibit seriously.
We are very much a hobby kennel, with professional and progressive ideas who breed and show for pleasure, and all our animals are seen as pets first and fore most, everything else they achieve is a bonus.
Our priority when breeding is to produce animals that are sound in mind and body . As most of our pups go to pet homes, we will not compromise on temperament. All puppies are reared in the home for maximum socialisation. All breeding stock is hip scored. As breeders we make a lifelong commitment to all animals bred here. We are constantly striving to breed animals that conform to the SV/FCI standard, and much thought and research goes into our breeding programme. We try to use animals that will help us to establish and improve our kennel with each generation
Over the years we have learnt which lines produce the type of animal we consider of correct type. We have discontinued some lines and introduced new lines into our kennel. This has been achieved by using TOP German males and the importation of some superb bitches of absolute TOP breeding and type.
We now feel we are producing the type of animal we wish to present in the ring, and hope to exhibit more frequently here in the U.K. and farther afield when possible.. Our aims for the future are to carry on breeding using the best and most suitable animals in this country and further afield when necessary and able.
We have also started a joint breeding venture with our good friends Graham and Angela Davidson of Chiara GSD. Together we hope to produce, train and exhibit animals of the best possible type and quality.
We also work closely with Pia Gelleszun of Zwinger Heinrichplatz, Berlin. Our thanks must go to Pia for all her help, support and letting us have some lovely animals.
